Step outside of Sydney and into one of its most historic suburbs, Manly, on our two and half hour Manly Trail Running Tour. We’ll spend our day exploring the harbour and hidden alcoves of the seaside Manly.
Set sail for Manly, a coastal suburb of Northern Sydney, on Fit City Tour’s Manly Trail Running Tour, operating daily at 9:30AM. This two and a half hour tour includes a trip aboard the Manly ferry and a journey to a number of historic sites that have been inhabited since long before the British settlers arrived over a century ago. Together, we’ll explore Manly Wharf, Collins Beach, and more before returning to Corso for a nice refueling lunch.
You’ll meet up with your Sydney tour guide at Circular Quay in Sydney where we’ll harbour hop from Sydney Harbour to North Harbour on a ferry ride to Manly, a journey of seven nautical miles. We’ll arrive at Manly Wharf, like many others before us have on their way to Sydney since its construction in 1856. The wharf has been a longstanding site of historical significance due to the many sea-farers and cargo passing through over the years.
Then, we’ll run towards Collins Beach, a scenic little beach with calm waters before visiting Quarantine Station. Here, we’ll learn about how from 1832 on, incoming travelers were sent here to decrease the risk of bringing common nautical diseases to Sydney, such as smallpox and the whooping cough. Together, we’ll explore this once remote quarantine area, now an attraction with a complex dubbed Q Station as a nod to its long history. Nowadays, travelers can come for a hot meal, a night’s stay, and you may even see events such as weddings held here due to the spectacular views.
After getting the all clear from the doc, we’ll lace up our sneakers and make our way to North Head and Shelly Beach. As Shelly Beach is adjacent to North Head facing West, it has been a safe haven for sailors against rough winds and waters for over 100 years and there is even evidence of Aboriginals living here long ago.
Before ending our tour, we will return to central Manly where we’ll grab lunch together on The Corso - one of the main streets connecting Manly Wharf to Manly Beach on the Pacific side of the Manly Peninsula. We will part ways at the Manly Wharf as many enjoy hanging out on Manly after the tour before returning to Sydney!
