Experience Melbourne in full bloom on Fit City Tour’s Garden & Fountains Walking Tour. This small group tour will lead you through the city’s beautiful parklands, including The Royal Botanical Gardens & Treasury Gardens. As we stroll, your friendly Melbourne tour guide will share interesting tidbits about the history of the lush landscape.
Our three and a half hour walking tour operates daily at 9AM and begins at Federation Square, an iconic venue for the arts nestled on the edge of Melbourne’s central business district. We’ll fuel up with a warm cup of coffee before heading out on our epic exploration. Our first stop is The Queen of Victoria Gardens, a landmark brimming with ornamental lakes, sprawling lawns and a magnificent lineup of statues, including the Queen Victoria memorial statue. From there, we’ll explore The Shrine of Remembrance, an iconic war memorial honoring Australian soldiers. Built in 1934, this elevated landmark welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, and serves as a destination for quiet reflection and tranquil beauty.
The next stop on our meandering walking tour is the beloved Royal Botanic Gardens, a parkland dedicated to the conservation and appreciation of beautiful plant life. Founded in 1846 and consisting of 38 hectares of breathtaking greenery, this impressive garden features a plethora of garden beds, lakes and lawns all along the Yarra River. Together, we’ll walk on through both Melbourne Park and Yarra Park, continuing our exploration of the city’s green oases. Along the way, we’ll stop for a peaceful lunch in one of the gardens.
As we continue, we’ll visit The Fitzroy Gardens, a grand garden named after Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy, a prominent nineteenth century military officer. Next, we’ll explore The Carlton Gardens, a world heritage site bursting with plant and animal life. We’ll wrap up our refreshing walking tour at The State Library, a historic gem home to more than two million books.
