With Easter quickly coming up, hot cross buns are flying off the shelves again. Whether it be the traditional fruit or chocolate varieties – or anything in between - Melbourne’s bakery and pastry community has a lot to offer. Here is a quick guide to just a few local options to fill up on this Easter season.

This Brunswick based pastry specialist is renowned for their traditional French pastries. Although they offer an array of options - most people go to Choukette for the pastries. Beginning with its chocolate croissants and croissant escargot, there is more than enough to fill you up. The most satisfying of all, Choukette is renowned for its hot cross buns. This artisan bakery offers a wide selection of baked goods. The best of all - their fruit hot cross buns have organic fruit from Murray View Organics. If you’re looking for something a little different, Q le Baker offer traditional hot cross buns infused with the flavouring of their own housemade ginger beer. Another twist on the traditional hot cross bun, you can try Lemon Myrtle glaze buns.
